Hi All, looking over the firmware code it seems that it would be pretty easy to accommodate the pulse lengthening required to activate multiple spark discharge as outlined in the EDIS specification. What it will look from the user's point of view is that you would have an additional option in the i...

Hi Paul A number of things spring to mind, first the bins need setting up. On a normally aspirated engine you will not get over 100 Kpa. This is atmospheric pressure at startup. We need to understand where your vacuum take of is because I'd expect a figure a little lower than 70 at tickover with clo...

If you use the diagram on the EDIS technical info page http://www.autosportlabs.net/Ford_EDIS_ ... nformation you'll be able to work it out.
Looking at the EDIS module in the diagram with the plug to to top pin 1 is at the left hand side.
Hope this helps.

Hi Brent Thanks for the update, hope you're not too bruised from the prodding. I've flashed the new firmware and installed the new software today and all looks OK on my limited setup (rpm advance only and no aux input) When I tried writing the global configuration I did get a coms time out error but...

EDIS-4 and EDIS-8 use different connectors. They are different connectors, it's shape, but the pins are the same. I was suggesting you take the pins out of the EDIS4 plug and put them into the EDIS8 plug. This way you nealy have a complete loom with screened cable and grounds etc. You only need to ...

Unfortunately EDIS-8 modules are a little difficult to come by in the UK so I had to make do with the pigtails it came with The UK EDIS4 loom would still be of use for you with your EDIS8 setup. You can remove the pins from the EDIS4 plug and put them in the corresponding EDIS8 plug location. This ...

So would I be correct in stating that in basic terms more load equals less advance? Correct. Just remember when you have heard pinking, it's always been at high loads, usually low revs. Basically you want complete burn and maximum cylinder pressure as the crank has just gone through TDC and the pre...

Hi Ryan Here is an extract from Dave Andrews web site which I have found very useful. It is based on a distributer setup but translates well to the megajolt setup. In brief the document describes how fast the fuel burns and this burn time alters with RPM and load so the point at which the spark is n...
