I would also be very interested in this - my Land Rover runs at about 3500rpm at top speed, and a lot of the time would be less than 2000rpm. It also runs on LPG, so if it helps with that, it would be great. Having just passed my bike test and got a new Kawasaki ER6F, I still find it hard to get use...

Even though I have data on RPM/vacuum advance settings, is it better to...
1)run the engine at a certain speed then advance the ignition till the I find the highest revs.
2)Repeat the above for different RPMs.
???
or not?

Distributor RPM
I have just noticed in the manual that the centrifugal advance is quoted as... 0-1 degrees at 500 distributor RPM, and 18-20 degrees at 2250 distributor RPM. Does this mean 1000 and 4500 crankshaft RPM? If so this would make sense because 4500RPM is the max revs. I think this would mean the highest ...

The vacuum advance take-off is coming from the brake servo line on the manifold (which I don't use for anything else). The carb is a twin-choke Weber. I will try and find a plastic fuel filter thing today and see if that smooths the vacuum. As for advance figures, I was playing about with the map on...

Vacuum figure when idling
Now that I have a long serial lead I can plug the Land Rover into the computer outside the office window... ! When idling the vacuum is in the high-30's range. Is this normal? Min/max when standing still is 14-110. Does this runtime graph look right for an idling engine? The MAP is 'jittery' as well...

I have just remapped at work with my ideas from above, and it is 100% better. Less popping on overrun, no frightening old ladies when backfiring, and pulls much better. Just got home and tweaked a few figures, so we'll see how she goes in the morning. Only trouble with a Land Rover is that the weath...

I assume it's the 10A setting on the meter - just because I have one doesn't mean I know every function :) ... If so, it says 0.02. Which I would take to mean 20mA? Maybe it's the battery connection. because now I am home again and have been using the original Duracell battery for 10 minutes without...

It turned out to be the 9V battery that I bought yesterday morning... I verified around 9 and 5 volts at various points on the board but something was obviously up with it. I think it'll be going back to Tescos! As I expected to need it for a while, I bought a Duracell battery - I have only had it p...

Yesterday I loaded dual maps and everything appeared to be working fine. On my way home it seemed to be down on power regardless of which map I used, although there was a slight change in engine behaviour at idle when the MJ was plugged in/out or switched betrween maps, so I think it's working. This...
