I looked at Farnell, but their minimum order is £20. Seeing as the chip only cost £1, I'd rather not have to waste £19 on stuff I don't need. Know anywhere else?

Hi,

I had a look as Maplins.. I see a MAX232CPE and a MAX2322CPE, but not a MAX232A. Is one of these equivalent and useable for the v3 megajolt?

Thanks

Need a to buy a MAX232A in the UK

Hi, I set up a MJ v3 a couple of years back. I could never get it to work right and eventually gave up. I've not decided to have another go. The problem I had was that I didn't get an RPM signal. I triple checked the wiring and the PCB and could find no issues. I found this thread http://www.autospo...

Pins on megajolt and EDIS plugs all triple checked. Defiantley making contact.

Hey,

I'll check the voltage on PIP and SAW sometime soon. Between either of them and earth do you mean, or between each other?

VR sensor wires cant be the wrong way around, or the engine wouldn't run on EDIS, which it does.

Cheers

Revs not registering on the Megajolt and timing not adjustin

Hi, I installed my Megajolt in my 2 litre Capri. When I first set it up I checked the timing with a light and it seemed to work. I was having major misfiring probs tho, so put a new EDIS in which sorted that, but it still wasnt right. I couldn't get my computer to monitor the MJ while it was running...

Assume EDIS only.... - Sensor -> trigger wheel gap? What should the gap be? I think mine is about 1mm. Will too small a gap cause problems? Going to investigate tonight, if I have no luck I will have to limp to the scrap yard tomorrow before work for coilpack and EDIS. I'm hoping its a problem with...

Misfiring very very badly. New install

Hi, Just installed MJLJ in my 2.0 Capri. Its misfiring really badly though. At least think it is. When driving it judders alot and you can see the RPMs drop. Here's a video of the gauge taken while cruising at a constant speed on the motorway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDURBat_Lvo Any suggestio...

Thanks Rich,

For neatness, if I was doing it again I would use pin 4 for one shield, and for the other.

Cheers

Earthing the shielded cable

Hi, I have the shielded cable for the EDIS to VR and EDIS to MJ. The diagram shows the shield of the VR sensor connected to pin 7 of the EDIS, while the shield of the cable to the MJ is connected to pin 7 and earth. The effectively means that both cables shields are connected to pin 7 and earth. I h...
