Re: 36-1 Electronic Trigger Wheel Emulation
Hey guys haven't been on here in ages, and it's been almost as long since I played with ignitions & dynos :) Here's my question, I'm needing to build a bench tester for six cylinder waste spark ignitions and I want to use the EDIS6 and a JimStim. Does anyone have experience with this and have a ...

Happy New Year to everyone, and an update since I asked the question about the Hall Effect crank pickup. I had my engine running on an engine dyno yesterday, on a standard VR sensor, then swapped in my dual Hall sensor, scoped the output and made it out to be +2.5v on the positive, and -2.5v on the ...

Dual Hall Effect Crank Pickup
Hi all, been awhile since I was here, but have another date to break in a motor on the engine dyno, so am getting it configured with a carb and the EDIS and my trusty MJLJ. Then I remembered I'd changed this engine over from a VR pickup to a dual Hall device (still works from a standard ferrous trig...

we read the same write up in regards to the bmw COPs setup cribbj ! i borrowed your diagram and altered it for an EDIS 4 application (my application) and applied the in-series configuration. i have another EDIS4 module i could always hook up in parallel but am hoping the single EDIS will suffice. i...

After a number of Murphy related glitches, we got the motor running on the dyno. It would not run with just the single EDIS8 and the 8 Supra COP's, so to get it running initially, I pulled off the COP's and rewired the ignition with Ford EDIS coilpacks, and it fired right up. Made a few pulls and it...

Hi Danny, we're on the dyno now, but have been chasing other problems, namely a timing belt that keeps wanting to jump teeth. Strange problem, considering the whole front of the motor is brand new, but we have new parts arriving today so I'll put a complete new timing system on it and try again. I'm...

I had crossposted about this apparent weak spark in this thread: http://www.autosportlabs.org/viewtopic.php?t=1415 and after a couple of exchanges with Oliver, the light finally went on, and I realised, as Hiperformance71 had already suggested, that the EDIS couldn't drive both coils in parallel, an...

Oliver thanks for your comments, but IMHO, I think your logic is flawed. Inductors act as resistors, and when you put them in parallel, the impedance is halved and the total current to the circuit doubles. So, if anything, I would be concerned about frying the EDIS from too much current. As you said...
