When I was bench testing Edis 6 Modules I found this sort of behaviour.. They seem to have an internal rev-limiter. The two units I had had different colored stickers and part numbers, and showed repeatable consistent results. exceed a certain rpm and the spark shuts down. It ewont come back unless ...

Woo.. Necromancer Thread Revival ! I made a fair bit of progress on several fronts before moving house caused my 13 year-old workshop to have to be disassembled, boxed, moved and is only now (9 months later) approaching its former hackability level.. (As in tools, parts bins, workbenches, test...

General Troubleshooting proceedure for Megajolt Ignition Systems is start at the business-end (the Spark Plugs) and work backwards up the chain of components until you get to the Megajolt (which is the last component). 0, Remove the Megajolt and put it aside, you dont add it in until the engine can ...

At the risk of sounding like a smartarse.. "You simply keep changing the settings in a systematic manner until it is running at its best at all rpm/load conditions." The magic two keys points are "in an systematic manner" and "running at its best" Systematic manner = fo...

Well, from one point of view, Megajolt *could* be expanded into a Mega-Ject. In conjunction with an EDIS, it already has RPM, Map, TPS, Temp Inputs and Aux Outputs (for Pump and Injector Drive) and nice Table Configurator Software.. You would probably need to get a WBO2 input in there somewhere.. or...

I agree that there probably is a market for such a system.. In fact I may even have come across a similair product when I was surfing about sucking up Megasquirt information across the net. Problem is, I forget the name of it now. I recall it looked like it was based on Megasquirt, but had a "k...

There is certainly a market for making things as simple as possible for "Joe Average" - just look at Apple.. They turn complex computers into shiny consumer-toys and make a lot of money by doing so. But they do so by saying "You do things *our* way, or hit the highway and go elsewhere...

I have done many (well,~ 6) Megajolt Installations and 2 Megasquirts now. I agree that the hardest part with the Megasquirt is piecing together a coherent picture out of the mountain of options available to you. There are many different revision circuit boards, assembly options, Processors, Firmware...

Actually, to be pedantic, the Megajolt box itself knows nothing about the 36-1 wheel at all.. Its the EDIS module that wants the 36-1 Zero crossing signal and it converts it into the PIP signal which is what the MJ box listens to. There are a number of 36-1 wheel simulator widgets available on the n...

I cant see why not, given that Android is Linux based.

Ive had a brief tinker with the Android Virtual Machine from here
http://www.android-x86.org/
and found it all works pretty well.

I might try installing your Tuning app on the VM and see how it goes. :)

PIP is the "Position Indicator Pulse" from the EDIS to the MJ. If you have no RPM reading on the config software (assuming it is talking to the MJ ok), then this is the wire/signal to be looking at. SAW is the advance control (Spark Advance(or Angle) Word) from the Mj to the EDIS. If the M...

Read this thread - http://www.autosportlabs.org/viewtopic. ... 6510#16510 for some troubleshooting steps.

Ignore PIP and SAW, disconnect the MJ, and get the EDIS running by itself first,
once its ticking, then you add the MJ into the system.

Well, there you go, you were right with your first guess. :)

Still, Its good to run through all that stuff.. Dead EDIS's are pretty rare, but youve just proved they do happen

Glad you got it running
