After pulling my hair out for weeks, I just removed the MJLJ and reinstalled the distributor. It now runs great, better than ever.....

Yes, I am using shielded wire and I have the shielding grounded to the chassis. I am wracking my brain trying to think what might have failed in the system the day it went bad. All was well for about 45 miles and then it just began to miss and sputter at 4000 rpm and it has done so ever since. This,...

This is getting frustrating. The gap is spot on at 1mm, the bracket is of heavy welded steel and is securely attached. No loose wires or connectors, tugged and pulled on them all. The motor is an A-series from a Sprite, it starts right up and idles smoothly. No change if I pull the plug from the MJL...

I have decided to start from first principles and check everything. First difficulty is that I cannot seem to find what the correct gap is between the VR sensor and the trigger wheel in any of the installation instructions here. Can someone show me where that information is to be found, please?

First thing I checked, I had that problem initially in the first 100 miles, but it hasn't moved in another 1500. Perhaps the two symptoms are unrelated, rev limiter problem vs not revving over 4000? I never had control over the rev limiter, that is it was not adjustable and was stuck on 5300, but th...

It worked for a while and now it doesn't.....

Hi, my MJLJ worked pretty good for a year or so. Only problem was that the rev limiter was set to 5800, but it would not let me rev over 5300 no matter where I set the limit. Now it won't let me rev over 4000. This started on the way home from a drive and has continued. I checked all the connectors,...

I already upped the revlimit from 6300 to 6800, I will try unplugging the MegaJolt and see if the problem is still there. My next project is to hook up the AFR to the Aux port so I will be doing datalogging for mixture control anyway.

Engine will not rev above 5800 indicated on tach

I have 2000 miles on my MegaJolted A-series and I have noticed in the last few weeks that it will not rev above 5800 rpm. I am not sure if this is a new condition as it was a new engine in a newly built kitcar and I have only recently begun to really run it hard. I have been doing carb jetting testi...

Yes, you will be able to log from your wideband meter using that input.
Sorry, damned auto correct on iPad.....

Thanks, I already got one from my local guy. Now I need to figure out why it breaks up at 5800 when the rev limiter is set to 6800. It feels like it just hits a wall and begins to spit and sputter and will not rev any higher. Also will the SUV input be able to record the 5v output from an AFR meter....

Found it! One of the pigtail leads on the VR sensor had broken inside the connector. I disassembled it and soldered it back into place temporarily and it started right up. Now I just need to obtain another sensor plug for a permanent repair. Thanks for the help Brent. BTW, I am totally satisfied in ...

Troubleshooting procedure/decision tree for total failure

I had a failure of my ignition this weekend after 1800 miles over two years. It is a MegaJolt Jr. on an Austin Healy Sprite engine. It first manifested itself as a miss or stutter at 3/4 throttle and above under hard acceleration. At that point it idled just fine, I was doing carb jetting changes an...

Accel EDIS coil & custom plug wires

I am having trouble getting a set of plug wires that will fit the Accel EDIS type coil. I have their 140028 coil with "european" contacts rather than the Ford clip on type. Upon the advice of Accel tech support I bought their race wire set to make up the correct length wires for my car, th...

Has anyone done this exercise for the EDIS4 coil too? I spent a long time getting my car to run correctly when connecting the spark plug wires. I know some find this easy, but it was not that way for me. The online documentation is a bit sparse regarding this.......
