Re: Rev limiter cutting in early?
I had a similar problem a few years back.. it turned out to be a broken wire from the crank sensor.. Under hard acceleration as engine moved on mounts the connection broke then as the engine moved the other way it made contact again and everything was fine. occasionally it would die completely and n...

The starter switch is quite simple, i have an output that goes through a push button swtich (starter Button readily available off e-bay) when this is pressed it energises a relay that shorts across the back of the standard ignition switch. The output is programmed so that it is on and turns off at a...

Well its not Q1, i replaced it today and the symptoms are the same... I carried out some tests on the trigger and i get 12volts when the revlimiter is NOT active, this drops to .6volts when the limiter is active. i assume this is correct which shows that the MJLT is performing correctly.... I can on...

Sorry for missing your post. If Q1 is damaged it wouldn't forward the signal to the MOSFET, to activate/deactivate the hard limiter. I haven't considered this transistor as a particularly vulnerable component. Now, we do know if the Rev Limiter module does not have a proper ground between it and th...

Blown Transistor
I have just reinstalled my hard cut limiter after diagnosing some problems with the my MJLT V3 (all Sorted Now) and i think i have blown the transistor Q1. I lowered the rev limit to 2000 rpm to test and it all worked fine, i was demonstrating it to a friend and held the engine on the limiter for ab...

:D oh right,I got carried away there. I'm none the wiser,is 40° normal for idle speed @ 1000rpm? The first bin is the cranking speed advance setting and this engine starts very well with a lot of advance....40degrees is a good setting for cranking.... this engine can be a bit of a pig when hot to s...

I can't evaluate/work in kilopascal, only psi. So your 166 KPA equates to 24psi  fookin'ell, that is some boost going through a pair of dells, very impessed. There must be hope for my pinto then :D I am not that brave!!!!! 24psi absolute that is 24-14(atmospheric) which gives a grand total of 1...

Update: on the home straight
Got some time to have alook at the car today, Looks like i am on my way to solving the problem. The VR bracket and Gap are perfect, no movement on the bracket and the gap could not get any smaller with out touching the wheel. A bit confused it decided to unplug the VR sensor and remove it. this is w...

OK replaced coil pack and still get intermittant mis fire. I will have to have a look at the VR sensor on the weekend.... I am pretty sure that i have a problem with the MJLT. I have reverted to origional ignition to test and car runs fine (not as good but there is no misfire..) Anyone upgraded to a...

Ok further developments, i am now getting a regular misfire, but there does not seem to be a pattern to it. I think it appears more under load but cant be sure. the rev counter drops when the misfire happens, this is driven from the EDIS not the MJLT. I have replaced the EDIS module and still get th...
