to close the loop on this, the 15v zener worked only to 3000 rpm.
18v didn't do anything different.
i ended up not using the tachAdapter, or any MJ signals (none seemed to work). i used the pin 11 on EDIS (CTO - clean tach out)

2 coil packs, tachAdapter - RPM signal drops at 3K - fixed
I had problems getting the tach to pick up the signal - after searching here, i did the following 1) added tachAdapter (did not work out of the package) 2) tach adapter has Resitor #1 and #2 removed (this did nothing) 3) added a 15v zener diode with the band pointing towards the tach adapter (sort o...

What you can try doing: 1. If you have coil 1 and 2 pads connected on the adapter board, you can try removing resistors one at a time to see if you get a signal. If you have a fine tip soldering iron you can heat up Resistor R1, remove it, and test it. If that does not work, remove R2. and try agai...

to close the loop - yes, they can be used. i replaced my ford edis coilpack with 2 of these. to figure out what prong was power, i used the base (with male spades sticking up and no coil packs installed). applied power to each of the plug terminals and used a multimeter to see which was wired to wha...

i am going through this right now too and have the same question. from what i can tell, the coil packs still need the two signals (assuming EDIS4) and the tach adapter needs input too. so, the EDIS output of pin number 10 and 12 needs to essentially be split (Y). for pin #10 one going to the tachAda...

bumping this thread. I am finally getting some time to resurrect this project. i am taking off my EDIS coilpack as i think one of the coil banks is not working correctly. Spockie-Tech - i took the coils of of the base and see what you are talking about. How do i tell which of the prongs is the power...

Limp mode troubleshooting Q
I just finished rebuilding the motor on my car (2.1L T4 Porsche 914 motor). I had it running before the rebuild fine. i have not changed anything to do with MJ. i took it for it's first spin last night and man was it a dog. could hardly get it home. :( i would have thought it was the MJ in limp mode...
