I've just emailed the guy who built this one ....He's fairly local (30 miles) in Bristol to see if he can check it.

Would you believe my new timing light has decided to stop working also!!!! :? :shock:

Hi Brent.....Well i've just about lost patience with this .... i've spent a fortune on it and countless hours....for nothing! I,ve just tested the continuity of all the wires right through to the circuitboard and everything is good...But still timeouts!

Is there anything on the circuitboard that is know to pack up?

Hi Brent...Ithought it was the socket on the back of the mjl, but ive had a good look and it seems ok... I think i may just solder the lead straight on to the circuit boardand try that.... nothing to loose ,I guess!


Does that sound ok?

Rolling road booked for tomorrow,.... and guess what it's packed in again!!!!!... Timeout on every attempt.....


Checked everything again......nothing !!! I'm really starting to distrust this thing as i'm not sure it won't let me down 100miles from home...

Any suggestions?

Brilliant !!...........it's worked all day.. :D Thanks soooo much for all your help, it's been invaluable.

I was so close to trashing the thing on a number of occasions....Glad i didnt now.. :oops:

Next step.... rolling road to set things up

Well ...........I did it anyway! and it seems to have worked :D :D

I'll have a play tomorrow ,when the fumes have cleared, and see if i can get things running a bit smoother...!

I looked and nothing was loose so i guess it's ok.... would it hurt if i dabbed a bit more solder on the connections?

Update.... Hammer has been put away.!!

Tried doing that wiggling and tugging at wires etc and at one point i did get a response!!

:idea: loose conections to the back of the rj11 socket, Next job is to disconnect and check that out..........

Just tried using Hyperterminal..................Nothing happens!
Made up a completely new lead ...........Nothing
Diferent pc....................Nothing
Took everything off my laptop and tried it all again................Nothing!

Timing light has arrived and i've just tried it ...... No movement at all, must be running on edis default!
