yep the engine is running fine? the fuelling looks good as it happens I have switched the engine so I will see what the new one is like. I was thinking about valve timing may have moved / be wrong.

carb backfire

I have a MJ v4 setup on an Austin mini with a supercharger setup. I'm getting a backfire through the carb when you switch the engine off and then re-start it carb backfires I wonder if this is a wasted spark issue as both cylinders are firing at once? Anyone else had anything similar when swapping? ...

mmm I don't have a wide band. and yep its a SU carb... and I'm starting to think its the route of all evil... I might try and switch it for a newer bike carb. its a hard one to tune out.... I have had a little more time to play with the settings its a difficult thing to tune out without knowing the ...

to be honest Its not an mj thing. the car used to do it before mj but it was on a dizzy that had to be retarded to 0 TDC to stop the det later in the rev range. well I have been looking at all sort. I started with the plugs and checked the resistance, which according to NGK should be 5 ohms, we got higher reading from newer plugs, 4.2 - 4.9 the new bosh plugs are 5.0 - 6.1 so I tried pairing them but again I think this was just leading us down the wrong way...

I may have fixed it... need to do some more testing. but I was running the car with the old plugs for about 30 miles today and all seems ok.

Thanks for the reply. The two cars both run the following the same: MJ 4 fully built units we didn't make them Wiring harness (Both made by me) We used shielded cable from the Rolling Road place very high quality he uses it on all of the management installs he does. The fault appears at about 3500-4...
