Do you know what kind of vacuum advance port your car originally used? If it was ported (from the carb rather than from the inlet manifold), there wouldn't have been any vacuum advance at idle, so it would have only seen static + mechanical advance. You can adjust the table so that at idle speeds th...

That would be great! I'm no spreadsheet expert, it just scratched my itch at the time. If it would help anybody else, I'm sure the modification would be welcome. If you do post it back, I'll get a notification as I'm subscribed to the thread. I'll modify the text in the original post to let those th...

Ah yes, I guess the military aren't known for worrying about fuel economy. :-D There is no dwell input on the sheet as I don't believe the megajolt has an input for it. I moved on from the megajolt last year, so can't remember for sure. I now run the ignition part of a megasquirt as it allows it to ...

Hi, If you don't have a vacuum unit on your engine, then I guess that you should set the vacuum settings to zero and it won't matter what the kpa values are set to as it won't be effecting the mechanical values. It does seem strange to have no vacuum advance if it isn't a race engine that's going to...

That is really cool and helpful. My car is a turbo, what would it take to modify the spreadsheet. just change the kpa values (directly under the kPa label) to include the range above atmospheric (102kpa). I should really change the label from Vacuum to Pressure as it is for both really. I only run ...

Create starter map from factory manual specs
I hope this is the place to post this. It isn't exactly a map, but a means to create one from the specs in the factory manual. Appologies if I've missed where I should post it, or if there's one of these already available. I recently needed to convert the specs in my factory manual for use on the Me...

Here's my current working map. It's modified from the mid range map above and I've tried to simulate the original ported vacuum type for idle advance. As the original vacuum on this car was the ported type (no vacuum registered at the distributor at idle), I've set the idle rpm/Kpa advance value to ...

1963 Triumph Spitfire Mk1 Maps
First a quick explanation of how these maps came about.... The attached are the maps worked out from the factory workshop manuals. These are very different from any other spitfire mark as the amount of advance required decreased dramatically from the mk3 onwards. If my conversions, or any of the wor...

Hi, It's been a while. I've been getting this running as best I can, but finally got around to buying a draper vacuum gauge. I wish I'd done this much sooner. The vacuum gauge shows that I'm getting 19 inHG at idle which is perfectly within its in its good range. :) After buying the gauge, a neigbor...

low vacuum ( no leaks )
Hi, I've just installed the MJ V4 on my 1963 Triumph Spitfire and all seems to be working fine, but I can't get the Kpa below 50-53. The car is running it's 1147cc engine that has had a lot of balance and porting work done and has a piper 270 cam fitted, it is also running on keihin CR special bike ...
