Brent, I followed, last night, the steps you outlined below and could not get the values to be persistence. But I'm now seeing (self-healing?) them working fine. My conclusion: I suspect that I was performing some voodoo inspired tuning adjustments making it appear that my changes were not sticking,...

Hi Brent, My apologies for my poorly written post earlier today. Yes, I believe I am communicating with the MJ - thanks to you and your help. When I connect to the MJ and start the car, it runs, but runs rather badly. I'm using the default timing file as a starting place. My operating premise is tha...

Trigger Offset: is it persistent, cumulative-I can't read it

Hey all, I'm hoping to get a bit of insight into how the trigger offset works. I've got my mj working on my Alpine but the Lucas disty still works better, so I still have a little ways to go. I'm thinking that the trigger wheel may not be precisely tdc and that the 'trigger offset' might be worth tw...

Hi Bruce, Thanks for your great explanation. I wasn't sure I'd stated the question well. So, walking through the two cycles, with my firing order of 1,2, 4 and 3, the first 1/2 cycle fires cylinders 1 and 4, where 4 is the dead fire. The second 1/2 of the first cycle fires 2 and 3 and 3 is dead. The...

How does MJ know which time around?

Hey all, I'm sure there's a very simple answer for a questions that's been eluding me this morning, so I thought I'd throw it to the wolves... er, ah, I mean the group. Some background: I've got a 67 Series V Alpine motor. A 1725cc for anyone who cares. I just finished rebuilding the motor and have ...

Brent, I tested the voltage points after finishing the regulator installation and they were all good. I just rechecked them and they're still good. The V++ on the darlington array seemed a little low, +11.94v, but I'm assuming that's ok. I am in Sunnyvale, Ca - just south of San Francisco, near Palo...

Brent, Finished testing on the second computer (WinXP sp4) and still no ACK... I tried to attached a zip, but it was too large I guess - told me it was empty. So here are images of a screen shot of the desktop showing the dos-prompt (cygwin) window and two new shots of the back of the board. I was t...

Hi Brent, Thanks for the solding tips. I've just finished re-touching all of the back-side joints. I'm using an older, fine-tipped Weller. I touch the tip to the joint, allow the pad and the existing solder to solidify (1-2 seconds), then add a touch of new solder, allow it to flow (1 second), and t...

Brent,

I don't recall the make, but I know that I intentionally avoided getting the board too hot, perhaps too much so.

I wanted your perspective before going through the re-heat/add solder process.

Hi Brent,

I have access to just too many servers - I'd already logged into the one that I'd placed the images on, and it worked just fine for me

Sorry - please take another look.

Hi again Brent, Re-reading your last post, I wanted to respond to the other two points you've raised. Using an existing EDIS system is not an option right now - I don't have access to an auto with that type of system. The actual code that's being output: when attempting to use v4 of the configurator...

I originally purchased my V4 (I'm assuming this based on the history images) MegaJolt last year. I assembled it at that time. I have just finished installing the car's motor (67 Sunbeam Alpine with a few modifications) and wanted to get that running well before introducing a new variable - the MegaJ...
