Guy Croft's Book

Unfortunately I'm wanting to keep it, also unwilling to break Copyright (it wouldn't look good for me and my job!) - sorry to be a stickler for the rules. My advise - buy a Haynes Manual (which will tell you how to strip and build an engine), buy a book on tuning petrol engines, go to Guy Croft's we...

Fuel/Injector Control

From what I understand you should use the project MegaSquirt (see links)- I believe you can keep the MJLJ to take care of the ignition.

Benefits of mjlj

Hi Alain, Well, everyone has their reasons. I have a Fiat 132 TC engine in a Triumph Spitfire and wanted to fit Twin Carbs using a straight inlet manifold. To do this I had to get rid of the block mounted distributor. To do that I needed electronic ignition etc. etc. On reading up about (mappable) e...

TPS mod

Graham,

Essentially you replace the pressure sensor with the tps (straight swap). There are forums which explain how to do this! Do a search on TPS.

Regards, Ed.

Throttle Position Sensor

Yes, throttle position sensor. As to which is best? Probably depends on your application. MAP on a single barrel of a manifold (as in a twin carb setup) tends to "pulse" and hence isn't so good - When all four/six manifold barrels are joined (std/production manifold) this effect isn't as l...

MAP Sensor

Danny, I bought a MAP sensor off DigiKey but have since removed it from the MJLJ and modified the board for TPS. I'd be happy to sell it to you for say half price - it has been soldered onto the board and then desoldered, but not actually used in anger? I have the bulkead connectors as well if you'r...

J2ME & Creme VM for handhelds

Just had another look on the website - I might try and download another evaluation copy - I think there is a CE emulator for the PC that could be useful.

Confirmed no support for Swing!

Hi Nick, Yeah, found that out too over the weekend - there might also be a few other classes which aren't supported. The Jeode RE is based on JavaOne Personal Java (essentially Java 1 Micro Edition) and swing isn't supported. I did have a search and downloaded a beta version of Creme RE by www.nsico...

Might not need porting at all!

I'm looking into running the software on my Ipaq. It's o/s is Pocket pc 2002 (windows ce 3) and it has a Java runtime environment called Jeode. Jeode is a Java runtime environment for Java Micro Edition spec - this supports the comm package and (some/most?) core java packages. Now, no doubt the MJLJ...

TPS instead of MAP

By the way, I must thank Josh B for answering a few questions concerning why TPS can be preferable to MAP in certain circumstances. Essentially when you have one carb barrel feeding one cylinder and you try and take MAP from that single barrel it will fluctuate substantially more as the valves open ...

TPS sensor

Hi, I've been looking into fitting a TPS myself - there is a forum topic called 'TPS Sensor' which should answer your question. Essentially the TPS can be used as a direct replacement for the pressure sensor as both have 3 connections that are used: +5v, ground and an output voltage between 0v &...
