ok,i believe i can breath again.i changed the sheilded wire from the vr and nothing. then i checked the voltage while cranking over the engine and my voltage was around 8.4v so i ran battery voltage directly to the edis and coil and i had spark...backfiring and sputtering.reverse the coil wires and ...

thanks for the tips. my vr is in the stock location and doesn't seem to have any adjustability. i've changed the vr wires so many times, i can't remember which way i started out. i'm going to make a new wiring harness and see if that helps. thanks again
