Hi folks, this new feature is overwhelmingly the most popular request on the Poll, just wondered if anyone is doing any work in this area???

Are you using USB/Serial adaptor?
I tried using a cheap USB/Serial adaptor and had similar problems. Borrowed a Belkin, removed/added everything again and eventually got it to work after lots of struggling and disabling internal modem etc etc. If you can borrow laptop with "real" COM port then suggest trying this first to ...

Confession time.....
Well I've finally found the problem that's been bugging me for ages and YES it was something very simple in the end. In my infinite wisdom, for some reason that will now give me global international embarassment, I goofed on the wiring, well not exactly the wiring but the SCREENING! I'd conected con...

Sounds about right
Thank you for your suggestions. Those scope readings sound very similar to what we observed so helps confirm that MJ is probably working correctly. I plan to confirm that my EDIS units are ok by trying them in friends car this weekend. Have already buzzed-out the wiring and that's ok so will look mo...

Still no Advance!!
I'm still plugging away but getting the feeling I'm just digging a big hole! Summary: No advance seen with strobe Software ok and seeing runtime display Tach output works (although stops at 2700rpm due to pulse width I guess - the least of my problems at the moment) Seeing small a.c. voltage on SAW ...

Pin 13 reading 0.1v - 0.25v
Brent,
On Pin 13 getting 0.1v at tickover rising to 0.25 at mid-revs. This seems low to me. Also checked with meter from Pin 13 to SAW on Molex - measured 100ohm as I would expect.
Does this mean I've got a duff Processor?
(odd that I'm getting tach output though!)

Have tried some of that...
Thanks Martin and Brent for your suggestions, I'm competing off-road this weekend so re-fitted dizzy for now and will resume diagnostics Monday evening. However I've already checked.... Software comms ok Realtime display ok PIP ok (at Molex) No SAW (at Molex or Board or nearest resistor) 12v, 5v and...

EDIS wont advance - no SAW output
Hi,
Had MJ fitted less than a week. Noticed drop in performance and found that there's no SAW output from MJ. There are no visible dry joints or similar so concluding that a component has failed.
Please help me if you can as I'm struggling
Keith.

tach cutting out
The readings are as follows (taken with digital voltmeter on 20v dc scale) Tickover - 12.8v 1500rpm - 12.4v 2000rpm - 12.25v 2500rpm - 12.2v 2700rpm - 12.18v (this is the point when tach cuts out) I haven't taken detailed readings from old dizzy setup but was similar pattern but starting at around 1...

Tach cuts out at 3000rpm - MJLJ ver3
I'm running straight from the Tach output on new MJLJ Ver 3, works ok up to around 3000rpm then tach just cuts out. Thought I'd seen something similar on this forum before but can't find it. Does anyone have any suggestions for simple circuit to fix this? P.S. the voltage output from MJ Tach pin is ...

Success at last!!!!!!!
Got there in the end. Had a general poke around the solder joints of the SAW connector and R1 resistor (which had a little less solder than others) and all of a sudden advance was working, but then dropped back to 10deg. Dabbed a little dab-ette of solder on them and all now ok. I guess even Brent i...

How did you fix your advance problem?
Hi guys,
I'm having the same problem, can you please tell me how you fixed it?

still no joy....
Have changed EDIS but still no advance seen on strobe. So in summary.... 1.Software runs ok with no error messages 2. Comms seem ok between PC and MJLJ - can read/update config and see "runtime" working correctly 3. Can see an a.c. voltage on the SAW wire at EDIS which increases as rpm ris...

Yes - Runtime shows correct rpm
Runtime looks correct so PIP must be ok, I do get a variable voltage on SAW that's not a million miles away from yours so I'll assume MJLJ is OK and source another EDIS and try that.
Thanks for your help - will let you know how I get on.

Error message gone but still no advance on strobe
Matt, Thank you for your help, have loaded this and no more error messages. However, no matter what map I load the strobe still shows 10deg Have looked more closely at voltage coming out of MJ on saw pin (using digital voltmeter on 2v a.c. scale) - measures approx 0.05v at tickover and raises to app...
