Hey guys.
Im currently doing a few changes to my Mini which has involved taking the engine out etc.
While stripping the car down, i noticed that the pipe iv run from the inlet manifold to the MJLJR was split a few inches in.
Iv just taken it out, blocked one end and blew down the other, and it leaks air...
So what would this have done to the operation of the engine / ECU whilst in was in use?
cheers.
Split vacuum pipe... what would it do.

If it leaks a huge amount then the Megajolt will act as if your engine is seeing more 'load' than it really is. Remember - atmosphere pressure = Wide Open Throttle. So the Megajolt might've been acting as if you are driving around with the pedal floored constantly.
As far as damage to your engine and so on- it wouldn't be risky in terms of damage- your idle and cruise performance might've been degraded, at worst.

Thanks for the speedy reply!
Thats makes sense to me. Maybe this was partially thge reason to my cold start / idle problems.
I didn't put this down the the engine problems, which is now being re-built.
The problems on cold start, it just wouldn't idle on choke, i had to sit in it keeping it going until it warmed up. We've put this down to carb settings, but you think it could also be this spilt pipe?
cheers
