How does EDIS handle rapid RPM changes?

Hi,

If I understand the EDIS system's operation correctly, it requires a SAW input after each PIP signal. The falling edge of the PIP signal is when a particular coil has just been fired and it's ready to receive information from Megajolt as to the ignition advance for the next event.

If this is the case, then isn't EDIS using "old" advance information? In a rapidly accelerating or decelerating engine, the advance information provided to EDIS may be out of date. In contrast, other systems update the advance continuously and alter the timing in real time.

Is my interpretation of EDIS correct?

Not many ECUs actually get a full update every tooth. In practice engines don't accelerate fast enough even out of gear for it to be an issue.
