.. Positive earth ... and a dynamo...

Post by Gassed'58 »

Hi all, can anyone tell me if the Megajolt is suitable for a Positive Earth vehicle ?

I currently have it fitted to a negative earth vehicle which I am selling and wish to swap it over onto a positive earth vehicle.

This new vehicle will have a dynamo, I'm not sure the voltage control will be as closely contained as with an alternator so what voltages ( max ) will the Megajolt system cope with ?

Regards, Geoff.

Hello - It should work, given a few checks things:

- Ensure the EDIS mounting bracket is not connected to ground. I am not sure if it is. A simple continuity test will tell you for sure.
- The case of the megajolt is not connected to ground, so you are OK here.
- The frames of the coil packs are isolated as well.

Let us know how it works out!

Hi Brent, thank you for the information it gives me the cheer to go ahead and get it done. I will certainly get back to you and let you all know how I got on. I think this will be a few months as things move slow here and I have to get the trigger wheel mounting worked out as the crank pulley has a combined vibration damper which makes it awkward. The engine by the way is an IOE Rover 1955 2 litre sometimes called an " F Head ".
Regards,
Geoff.
