Induction Pickup for reading RPMs

Post by F5Pilot »

I bought an Equus 9995 Inductive Pick-up to test. My friend with an oscilloscope, along with the knowledge to use it, came over to see what kind of signal it creates. It produced a short duration pulse at 41 volts. A screen shot of the scope is attached.

The question is would this input work for RPMs? Does it need to go through a Coilx (I have another one on-order)?

It may work with a direct connection. CoilX will not work as the trigger point is above that threshold.

Try it out and let us know how it works!
