I am rumming Windblows ME, I instaled Java fromm the software page link, then I downloaded the JAVA COMM API and unsipped it. then I copied the COMM.JARR/JAVAX.COMM.PROPERTIES etc to the specified program folders all as instructed on the download page. then I downloaded the 2.0.2. configurator and copied the comm.jarr file to it . as far as i know i did everything correctly, keep in mind however it was all greek to me. in any case everytime i try to start the program i get a window titled
-JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE LAUNCHER- "fatal exeption occurred. program will exit. I do not have the controller hooked up at this point. I want to use it but thus far i have spent two days pulling my hair out just trying to get the software working--rant rant rant. please help.

yes, the java does seem to work.
try this: open a command p
try this:
open a command prompt (click start, run, and enter 'cmd'; click OK)
at the command prompt enter:
java -version
What does it report back? Mine says:
c:\>java -version
java version "1.4.2_04"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode)

Next test:
At the command prompt, change to the directory where you have the MJLJ file installed.
enter at the command prompt:
java -jar mjljTune-2.0.2.jar
any errors show up in the command window?
open a command prompt (click start, run, and enter 'cmd'; click OK)
at the command prompt enter:
java -version
What does it report back? Mine says:

Have you copied the comm.jar
Have you copied the comm.jar from the java comm package into the same directory as the MJLJ Configurator.

circuit board
its possible your circuit board might be missing some of its wiring. my was-when i peeled off the tape holding the chip,2 leads came off,but i found it by comparing to the 2x picture. might help, marty
