8mm silicone HT cable - uk supplier saught

Post by TwoSheds »

Hi all,
Sorry if this has been covered - I must have missed it if it has..

I am looking for a uk supplier of 8mm carbon/silicone HT cable who will supply a cut length (about 8mtrs) as opposed to lead sets. Due to my coilpack mounting, a 'car set' of leads will not all be the correct lengths so I want to make my own. I am using salvaged Ford caps at both ends of the leads and they are sized for 8mm silicone. My usual suppliers http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/V ... tcable.php or http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/104 both only do 7mm.

Cheers,
TwoSheds

Found one: http://www.fastlaneauto.co.uk/Frames/pe ... nFrame.htm

They replied to my email quickly and sounded very helpful and mentioned that they could do bespoke sets, or supply any components I wanted. The chap suggested that I call him to talk over what I wanted and so I did. Anyway - to cut a long story short, I got a bespoke, made to my measurements, assembled lead set using their own 8mm "Ferroflex® reactive core, silicone insulation, silicone sheath plus glass braid reinforcement" cable (like Magnecor perhaps?), new EDIS Mk1 coil caps and some very effective waterproof plug caps with each lead numbered at both ends:

And the cost? £41 delivered :) :) :)

They arrived 36hrs after I put the phone down and they are excellent.

I commend them to the house :)

p.s. 1 and 3 are a little long - but that is entirely my fault. The leads were made exactly to my specifications.

I bought mine from http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/104 , along with the ends fro crimping on the spark plugs
Thanks for the tip for getting them made though, I'll do that when I prove the concept.
