Triumph TR7 V8 installation
I have already fitted one to a TR7 16V as mentioned here:
http://www.autosportlabs.org/viewtopic.php?t=756
As I also had a TR7V8, how could I leave it out
The triggerwheel came from http://www.trigger-wheels.com/rv8 and I had the other brackets made to suit.
More info here: http://mjjfar.servehttp.com/triumph/TR8edis.htm
Lots of fun
Thanks again Brent! Where would we be without you ....
Mike.

Nope, definitely not . They are spacers that came with one of the bolts. A stack of washers will do the job. Yep, the bracket is a simple bit of standard angle iron.aarc240 wrote:Excellent, that VR sensor bracket is a really good guide for other people on what they should be using.
In the pic of the VR bracket as installed, what are the black sections between the washers (block side of the bracket)?
Surely not rubber vibration dampers!!
Look and 'hear' for yourself, the car pre-megajolt. Hopefully the new ignition will help out at the 5K+ rpm:brentp wrote:I was wondering the same thing with the black spacers! That is one sturdy bracket- nice installation too.
A v8 powered TR7 sounds like a ton of fun!

Can anyone analyse this log, is it good? Is rpm_accel = rpm change in one second? Car weighs around 3000lbs. Any idea of power and torque?

I finally put the car on the 'original' rolling road and can confirm that by only changing the ignition system I gained a 2.5% increase in torque - now 198lbft. The max power output was inconclusive due to my errors in timing.

The final timing?
I have re-done the timing and have uploaded it for posterity
Note the anti-stall and the rev-limit timing buckets.

I want to keep my system as simple as possible and dismissed any rev limit add-ons. I also use my existing distributor (with a 1K resistor replacing the coil) to drive the rev counter. I can quickly 'rollback' to my old ignition system.matnrach wrote:You can use the rev limit to retard the ignition to 0 degrees. It does the same thing as your map and saves an rpm site.
