Just finished the new V4 controller kit...... i open up mjljConfig and screen shows OK....when I connect up to serial port and power up with 9 Volt battery, the RPM gauge sits at 305, and the MAP gauge clocks fairly quickly around to 250.... puffing and blowing down the sensor tube has no effect
Do I need to load some 'firmware'? or 'software' if so HOW?! (my electronics knowledge OK but computer knowledge/software nearly nil!)
I have downloaded some files that seem to be mingwm10.dll and wxctb-0.8.dll what do i do with these?

Hi John,
the firmware is pre-loaded onto the chip, so you don't need to do anything there.
The other files you mentioned- they are included with the config software you installed; you can ignore them.
Are you able to read and write ignition maps with the software? Do you get any error messages at the bottom of the config software window?
The RPM shown is the 'cranking' rpm- meaning it's too low to measure. This really means 'zero' rpm and a future version of the config software will fix this.
Regarding the map sensor- can you confirm you have it installed in the correct orientation? (see pictures)
Can you measure 5V on pins 2 and 3 of the pressure sensor (pin 1 starting near the bottom of the board, with the notch in the pin)
If so, can you measure a voltage on either side of R4 that varies with pressure on the map sensor port?

thanks for the photo Brent..... I've done a stupid thing For some reason in my eagerness to get the kit working i placed R4 and C9 HORIZONTALLY instead of vertically i.e. across the wrong pads!
I've just swapped them correctly (and checked that all others are OK)...are you sure there should be +5V on pin 2? it seems to be connected to ground? I have +5V on pin 3 OK. The voltage on R4 (pin 1) changes very slightly around 1.8V- 1.4V when sucking the pipe.
I had also searched for 'firmware' on the site, and followed some DOS instructions there to load the firmware? (I substituted V4.00.sig ?) that I had downloaded too...it seemed to program OK with a report at the end 100%........have I made another error there?

You just uploaded the V4 firmware on top of the existing firmware- it certainly doesn't hurt to do so- 0 times or 1000 times Good practice, since we will inevitably have a bugfix firmware release soon.
For measuring voltage I meant across Pins 2 and 3- and yes, pin 2 is ground.
It seems that you're measuring correct atmospheric pressure. Seems that you can move on to getting it running on your engine!
