Hi
I've been thinking about what i can do with the option switch on my v4. I like the idea and i have wired it up and got it to work with a simple switch on the dash.
What i was thinking of doing was to have one map for normal road driving with a rev limit at 5000 rpm and an even rev scale throughout the rev range which will be hopefully a more efficient map and then use the second map to increase the rev limit but also have a more accurate map near the top of the rev range say 3500 to 7000 rpm, for faster driving for like track use. What does anyone think??
Then i got to thinking could i not connect the option switch input to an output on the megajolt somehow so that it switches at say 3500 rpm and have two maps. First map say 500 - 3500 rpm and the second map 3500 - 7000 rpm. This will then give a map of being 10 x 20 instead of 10 x 10, but this really is just a thought as i'm not sure how the car would operate switching maps all the time.
Any thoughts or problems with these options?????

i'm glad you like my ideas and don't feel like i'm bugging you with silly ideas. I've still not been able to test any of my thoughts til my middle digit has healed more but once i can get around the workshop a bit more i'll give it a go.
I have one question for you about how the option switch input and output work as in going high, grounding or floating (not connected to high or ground). For the option switch input the switch is either closed to ground (grounding) or left open (floating). I guess there is a pull down resistor for when the switch is closed. What i'm trying to get at is what would happen if the option switch input was connected directly to an output is there any chance it could short out and damage the circuit. If not i can give it ago and see what will work best.

right i had a play with the option switch today, just flicking between a standard map and a map which works well with the engine. I noticed there is a lil delay in the engine changing its characterisitc due to the change of map, of around half a second or so. Literally a blip, but i'm not sure if this would make the engine blip at all by changing maps as it inreases rpm, i think it may but not sure how noticable, maybe it would be less noticable at lower rpms???
A good way to prove this would be to use the softwares datalogger for a some good results. I will have a go at wiring the output to the option switch soon and see if i can rev through the rev range with the 2 maps and there being no blip. Does anyone have any ideas how to wire the two together??
