Our sensor bracket is an old ford alternator bracket and is over 5mm thick. The trigger wheel itself is pretty sustantial and was bought in a kit from trigger wheels. It can't hurt to double check any run out or possible movement but the bracket we have is probably more substantial than those in the pictures :(

Having put the old distributer back on and to confirm the problem isn't there and to get the ignition timing from it we have ruled out the mapping as the cause.

We had a look at our bracket and are going to try a different one. We tapped the end of the bracket that holds the sensor and it rang like a bell. Obviously it ins't sturdy enough right where it wants to be and is vulnerable to vibration. Its completely dead where it bolts up.

I'll post back when we've tried a different bracket that we are sure won't suffer any vibration problems to say wether the problem has disappeared.
