crank sensor

Im installing this system on my 79 Fiat Spider 2L engine. There is not any space to locate the sensor due to V belt interfeance. Is the use of a different sensor acceptable? The sensor would need to angle off imediatly.

There must be some variation in the choice of Ford crank sensors! I recieved mine via mail, not even sure of what vehicle it came off of. There could even possibly be a V6 sensor that could work. All I need is a sensor that angles some as soon as it can. Is there a list inc part numbers of acceptable crank sensors? Thanks

Can you describe the interference you're having a problem with? Perhaps a picture of the business end of your engine would help us evaluate your options.

Often when there isn't enough room on the back side of the pulley, the trigger wheel is mounted outboard.

Also, the crank sensor can be positioned anywhere convenient- you would need to rotate the trigger wheel so the missing tooth is positioned correctly relative to the sensor.

The installation guide will provide some tips on orienting the sensor and trigger wheel.

As far as sensors, there are a few different configurations- the ford sensor from 1.9L escort seems to be the most compact unit I've seen. It's also the same one illustrated in the installation guide.

In the meantime, perhaps another spyder owner will fill in some gaps...
