EDIS coilpack question

Is the EDIS module able to fire any different types of coilpacks?
Im having trouble getting ignition ht leads to fit a ford edis coilpack.
So was wondering if it could use my old management systems coilpak
Altho its a 4pin one, edis one is only 3 pin.
Any opinions?

Most other coil packs will work fine with the EDIS module. In fact, so far we haven't seen one that wouldn't work.
Your 4 terminal coil pack is likely 2 separate coils stuck together. It's likely that two of the terminals would be the common +12v, equivalent to the center +12v feed on the Ford coil packs.
Do you have pictures available, or mfg. / part number of this coil pack so we can take a look at it? For wiring, you could compare the manufacturer's wiring diagram against the EDIS / MJLJ wiring diagram documented here. It should be pretty easy to determine the correct connections after comparing the respective diagrams.

Thanks Brent.
Yeah, 4 wires, 1 per coil, 1 for the common 12v.
The fourth wire is an earth connection thought. It runs some form of internal amplification.
The pack itself is i think a Delco(GM) item, part number 10457075
And looks like this:
Would i need to measure the terminal resistance etc, to compare it to the original edis pack?
As keeping my standard coilpack will solve me a lot of problems, with trying to get custom ht leads etc.

Wait- that coil pack might have the transistor drivers built-in- it may not be a standard coil pack. The aluminum heat sinks may point to this. If the drivers are indeed built-in then they would not be compatible with the EDIS system.
Thanks for the part number. Do you know what year / model GM vehicle this came on?
Let me research this and get back with you.

It has an internal amp system
Its a standard vauxhall(gm) coil pack
From a Vauxhall Corsa 1997(1.6 16v engine)
Wired up as follows:
Pin 1 = +12v
Pin 2 = Earth
Pin 3 = Cylinders 1 & 4
Pin 4 = Cylinders 2 & 3
I assume EDIS drives the coils itself, with the standard edis coilpack only being 3pin. Hence it not being compatible with this coilpack.
I also have another coilpack laying about, which is a 3pin non amplified Sagem unit. Which just has 12v and the two trigger wires. I guess that would work with edis.

Done a bit of research, and it definently wont work with the self-amplified coil.
Because instead of the ecu switching the coil ground connection, it switches a 5v supply, which then tells the internal coilpack amp to switch the ground to the coil(hence it having its own ground wire).
Which then gives a spark.
Whereas edis and other 3pin coilpacks, have the edis/ecu directly switching the earth signal from the coil.
Guess i'll need a 3pin coilpack then.
