Hi guys,

Im looking to get my mini setup with a better map.
To make sure everything was lined up etc, i set a base map to 20 degrees constant across all loads and RPMs.
However, when i wrote this map to the megajolt, fired up the car and set the timing stobe, i saw the timing changing???????????
More worryingly, it seemed to be retarding as revs increased?

I didnt think this would be physically possible.
Any ideas guys?

Hi Nick,

Try this to absolutely verify the controller has the new values:

1. write the new values.
2. Flash the values.
3. Power down, then power up the controller.
4. Re-read the controller values using the software.

Finally, you should verify the configuration software is reporting the actual ignition advance- that should correspond to what you measure with the timing light.

Please report back with your findings.

yep, have zeroed the map values by disconecting, then uploaded the MJ map to the laptop to confirm the new flat map was flashed to the MJ.
The actual ignition advance was not 20 degrees either, but i dont understand how it could retard as revs increased, let alone change when the map has nothing but constant values, in this case 20.

On a fixed map, when engine speed increases, should i expect to see a retarding spark on the strobe?

What ignition advance behavior do you observe with your timing light running on EDIS only (with the MJLJ unplugged)?

The ignition advance should only advance with RPM. The MJLJ is only capable of controlling advance between 0 and 59 degrees BTDC.

Hi Brent,

Went to give it another go tonight and all seems well...
Not sure what was happening the other night, but it seems to of fixed itself for now.
EDIS only is bang on 10, map full of 10's is 10, map full of 20's its bang on 20.
Now its time to do some tuning!
