vacuum reservoir question

Just finished building my low buck vacuum tank, but now I'm thinking it might be too big...the measurements are 1 1/2" round by 5" long. Pictures will follow when finished. Also anyone ever use steel brake line J B Welded to the intakes instead of say 1/8" barbed fittings (to big and ugly)

Sounds like a good plan with the brake line and JB Weld. I can't see much of a problem there. You could even use epoxy or araldite?

The vacuum reservoir sounds a little on the large side. Something the size of a small fuel filter should be all you need really. What you ideally want is vacuum hose as long as possible from each runner/manifold to a y piece. This makes it harder for each side to rob air/vacuum from each other as it has twice as long to get to the other runner/manifold.

Should be fine for the vac tubes. I love JB weld, awesome stuff. You can also use brass tubing, available at any train/hobby shop.

Here is the suggested size for the vac reservoir:

Anyway, it says 2 by 4 inches, so if it is 2" in diameter, then Pi * r^2 * h=3.14*1^2*4=12.56 cubic inches.

Your reservoir at 1.5 by 5 inches comes out at 8.83 cubic inches, probably not too big, should be OK IMHO. That is, as long as these are all round then my math works out.

damn you all are good, and so flashy with the math
 Here's the beast

oh...I'm bad, I miscalculated on my own measurements (was being painted and I didn't want to go back outside...i.e. lazy)...the tank is 1 1/2" i.d. x 7 1/2" i.d. for a total of 17.6625 cubic inches....to big? So tonight I went ahead and made a new smaller one, I want a good vacuum signal and I want to get it right...it's now 7.065 cubic inches Here it is
