Can you use Megajolt using a MSD 6al and a locked out dizzy?

Porsche 3.0 engine with webers and some nice street cams for carbs.
Basically I would like the stock dizzy look with crank fire ignition curve programmability.

Could the MJLJ with a ford crank trigger be setup for firing a MSD 6al and coil back through the stock locked out (advance) dizzy?
If you can do this would locking out the dizzy even be necessary?

I already have the dizzy, MSD 6al, blaster coil, magnacore wires etc. and getting the stock (CIS FI) dizzy recurved for webers will cost me $500.
Also in the same vein a twin plug dizzy costs $2700...I know I could machine the cap/rotor mod for way less...it's the other reason I'm asking if this could this be done.

It is possible to use a distributor mounted trigger wheel as an alternative to a crank mounted wheel. Search the forum for "72-2". Also, you'll notice that a popular choice for VR sensor is the unit from a Mazda RX7.

Keep us posted on your project!

I have no problem running a 36-1 crank trigger wheel/sensor.

Can the megajolt be used to fire the single coil MSD 6AL, with all the advance and trigger functions being controlled by the megajolt?
Is there a "how to" on this?

The dizzy itself would be nothing but a cap and (spinning) rotor.
My experience is with SDS fuel injection with crankfire and they can configure it to work this way with MSD.

Apologies, misunderstood.

The Megajolt is designed to work exclusively with the Ford EDIS module- in your case, the EDIS-6. This eliminates the need for any other ignition module such as the MSD unit. You could sell it to help fund your project :) Is there otherwise a specific need or desire to use the MSD box?

Check out the Installation guide if you haven't seen it yet- it shows how the EDIS and Megajolt wire up.

Was just looking into seeing if I could build this but with a programmable curve and crankfire pick-up

Ahh, looks like a twin plug (twin spark) application?

This would be possible with two EDIS-6 modules and one Megajolt.

These threads should get you started:

There should be more info out there as well.
