Palm Computer?
I'm going to be getting a new palm top computer for work. Are there any out that could be used to download the MegaJolt software and then load/program/tune the MegaJolt? I don't have a laptop available and thought this may be a solution.
Thanks, Jax2A

Palm Computer
I was thinking of writing a Windows version that probably could be easily adapted to Palm OS, but I was thinking myself of going to a Pocket PC which uses a version of Windows.

Palm Computer/PocketPC
Moe, I'm leaning towards the Dell Axim X50v myself which uses Windows Mobile. I'm thinking the software would be OK but I'm not sure how to deal with the serial port. Do you know if there is some kind of adapter? Guess I need to do some more research. Thanks for the comment.

Does it have a pcmcia (cardbus) slot that can use a serial adapter?

Pocket PC
I would be interested in a pocket pc version of the MJLJ software, as my laptop battery is dead and it will cost £70 to replace it, and I can only get to the end of the drive before the extension cable breaks.
My pocket pc has a usb 2.0 connection.

944guy, Well I guess I have to show my ignorance. I don't know. It has two slots for CF or SD type memory cards. Is that the same as a pcmcia cardbus slot? I've tried researching this but haven't found an answer yet. I'll keep trying but if you know they're the same it would help me out. Also, where do you get the adapter? Thanks, Jax2A

Was thinking of writing a sma
Was thinking of writing a small code that could let you modify, datalog with a palm. Just haven't took the time. I know with Megasquirt, the code is really weasy for the palm. So don't think can be really way harder with MegajoltLite, just need to figure what sends what.
Pocket PC software
Pocket PC people may be interested in some tuning software I've developed for my Ipaq, hopefully should work on all variants of Pocket PC though....

Please let me know about successes or failures, it works brilliantly off the car, but I haven't yet tested on a car so it'll be great to have it working for someone!

Pocket PC Software
David, Not bad. This is along the lines of what I'd like to do. I've loaded your program on to my Axim X50V. It seems to be working well. However, I just finished my Megajolt Lite Jr and haven't loaded the software on it yet. I'm also still working on my Axim to DB9 cable. I just figured out how to make one and ordered the parts. I'll let you know once I test it out.
I'd still like to see a full version of the software for pocket pc so I can use it for full function, not just tweaking the maps. Good start though, nice work (wish I could do programing).

other functions
excellent, will be great to have some testers! what other functions were you thinking about? the programmable outputs/number of cylinders? it shouldn't be too hard to add these...

Other Function
David, I'll be honest, I want it all! I'd love to be able to do everything from my Axim, including real time monitoring of the engine stats (rpm, advance, tps reading, etc.) Not asking for much, am I? Especially for someone that has no idea what is involved and wants it for free. Seriously, I'd like to be able to do as much as possible from the Axim as I don't have a laptop. For now I can work on it and do the initial programming from my desktop, but what happens once it's in the car? If I have to completely reprogram it, I'd have to remove it. Do as much as you want or can and I'll be gratefull.

other functions
Similar setup to me then, desktop and ipaq but no laptop! My idea was that you could enter the 'once only' parameters such as number of cylinders (shouldn't often have to change this!) on your desktop at home, then bolt the Jolt into your car and the mapping can be sorted on the road.
I definitely see your point about the MAP and RPM readings though - would be nice to get them out in real-time. I'll have a fiddle and see what happens.....

Other Functions
David, I just got all the pieces to make my Axim to serial port cable. Now if I can just get some time without my 3 year old I can bet it built. So hopefully I'll be setup to start testing for you soon. Later,

New realtime display
Excellent news, I've made a start on the realtime display and such like - basically copying the style of the original tuning software. The new version of the software should be online now.

Realtime Display Version
David, Loaded up your new version on my Axim and it seems to be working and looks good. Started to build my cable on Sunday but my son found out and wanted to help which stopped progress. (can't solder tiny connections with a 3 year old helping) Hope to get back on it tonight. This is probably a question for Brent but you might know. Am I correct in assuming that the Max232 chip in the MJLJ prevents more than a 5v signal from the RS232 port? My Axim pins are:
10 RXD Axim In 3.3-5v
11 TXD Axim Out 3.3v
12 GND SERIAL
I think the MJLJ can only provide 5v from my research, so it should be fine.
My research also shows that I should connect:
DB9 Pin 2 RXD - Pin 10 RXD Axim In 3.3-5v
DB9 Pin 3 TXD - Pin 11 TXD Axim 3.3v
DB9 Pin 5 GND - Pin 12 Axim GND SERIAL
Assuming my Axim pinout is correct, does this look right to you? Never got in to how computers talk before, just trying to make sure I've got this figured out correctly.
Thanks for your help and your work.
