hi guys, i'm new here and am having trouble getting spark from my edis. i have a new coil pack, new vr sensor and new edis, i;ve traced all wires atleast 10 times. checked voltages and everything seems fine. cn you tell me how to adjust the vr gap on a stock zetec 2 litre? i'm trying to start without the mjlj thanks it seems i'm not alone with the problem of no spark. my engine is a zetec 2 litre from a 2000 zx2 escort with zx6r carbs and a miata 5 speed, i've got this in a morris minor and am hoping to get it on the road next month. as for the gap on the vr i get about 50 thousands on my verniers. is there some way to adjust this? thanks again

A common problem is a VR sensor wired backwards. Try switching the leads to see if that makes a difference. Also, make sure the EDIS and coil pack have power *while* you are cranking.

the gap should b 1mm - about credit card width.

Keep us posted on what you find out!

thanks for the tips. my vr is in the stock location and doesn't seem to have any adjustability. i've changed the vr wires so many times, i can't remember which way i started out. i'm going to make a new wiring harness and see if that helps. thanks again

ok,i believe i can breath again.i changed the sheilded wire from the vr and nothing. then i checked the voltage while cranking over the engine and my voltage was around 8.4v so i ran battery voltage directly to the edis and coil and i had spark...backfiring and sputtering.reverse the coil wires and it runs. thank you for your help

Sounds like you need to beef up the circuit between your fuse block and the coil! Glad you figured it out.
