Michael Drost (the Netherlands)

Hello everyone,
My name is Michael Drost, I live in Amersfoort (the Netherlands), where I work as a software test engineer most of the time. Every second left after that, is split between my family, motorsports, eating and sleeping ... in that order.
Every opportunity I get, you'll find me in a pitbox in Zandvoort or Assen or Zolder or Spa, where I spend my time as a data-, track- and video engineer (onboard stuff) for a racing team, operating mostly as an arrive and drive service provider at club level. But one with a big drive to win and enjoy ourselves.
We're specialized in BMW's and run a few BMW E30 325i's, E30 M3's and even an 80s 635i in club level racing (DNRT), Youngtimer Touring Cars (YTCC.nl) or wherever opportunity takes us.
Over the years I've worked with a selection of data acquisition systems, like AIM, Race Logic or Race Technology stuff. I'm also experimenting with the Arduino platform. I hope to create a two way telemetry system, that will allow me to track the cars progress one way and signal a driver to pit or tell him he's losing or winning time against whatever opposition is around. Yes, we could do that by radio, but any decent pit to car system (Kenwood, Motorola) will set you back a minimum of $600,- Going Chinese seems a way, but adapting headsets and what else doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather bodge a thing together with a led stuck down a fuel hose, in the drivers field of few. As for using a mobile phone and a headset, well, that has never seemed to work for us somehow. Neither has sticking a phone on the dashboard and sending text messages. Besides that, bodging is just more fun.
Because I'm motorsport mad, it's obvious, given the above, I'd come across this product! Needless to say, I will (slightly) dent my creditcard soon (somewhere in the next few months) and buy it. If you have reseller programs .... (there's a few people now using Race Logic PerformanceBoxes and Driftboxes because of me)(a few in this case means approx ... three).
I still haven't gone over all the details yet, but the RCP already meets a lot of shiny-object criteria (well over the threshold)! I will have questions!
Right, that ought to be more than enough for now. If extended reams of useful and useless information are required, I am more than willing to oblige!
with regards,
Michael Drost
