BMW VSS signal

Post by dsm2002 »

I am fitting an OBD1 M52B28 into an E30 using the original M52 ecu and engine harness. I plan to wire up only what is needed for the engine to run properly.

In the standard setup, the VSS sends a 0 to 12V (switching) signal to the instrument cluster and the signal is taken from the cluster and sent to the ecu. Now can I wire the speed signal to the ecu and split the signal without compromising the quality of the signal to either the ecu or display?

Also should it be connected to theRCP Pulse/RPM channel?

Yes, if it's a clean 12v signal you can feed that into the RaceCapture timer input port.

Let us know how it works!
