Swapping VR+ and sensor shield to get a spark!?

Swapping VR+ and sensor shield to get a spark!?
Can anyone explain why we've had to cross over the wires between the VR sensor shield and the VR+ output in order to get a spark from the EDIS? (the VR- is unaffected, still goes to pin 5)
