Hi,

Is there a downside of powering the RCP from the USB port? I guess there is the issue with USB connectors being loose but besides that is it identical?

Some of the battery packs can deliver ~2A should be enough

You should power RaceCapture/Pro via 12v if you are running dedicated sensors that use the 5v reference provided by RaceCapture/Pro. If USB is only connected, then the 5v reference sags to about 4.6v.

If not, then you're fine running off of USB power. Just the possibility of the connector vibrating loose, as you've mentioned.
