GPS Won't Initialize

Post by Gas Junkie »

Hi Folks,

I've been trying to get the RaceCapture/Pro 2 that I bought in Dec 2016 installed and working.

I cannot get the GPS module to initialize. Today I set the unit up outside with a clear view of the sky, connected to external power (not USB) and let it run for 6 hours.

I do not get an initialization error in the GPS System Status Window. It says "Status Not Initialized".

When I check poll log on the Scripting Screen, I get the following over and over again:

GPS: provisioning attempt
GPS: probing baud rate: 921600
GPS: probing baud rate: 115200
GPS: probing baud rate: 9600
GPS: Error: could not detect GPS module on known baud rates

I've tried to different antennas with the same result.

Do I have a bad GPS Module?

Hi,

Sorry we missed this earlier.

So to confirm, you have a RaceCapture/Pro MK2 (red box, correct?)

Let's figure this out.

First, what exact firmware version does it say in the upper right corner of the screen?

It should start with "RaceCapture/Pro MK2 " and then show the version number.

Thanks, we'll watch for a reply.

I do indeed have the red box RaceCapture/Pro 2. I updated the firmware about a week ago.

I checked the firmware version today and noticed it was RaceCapture/Track instead of RaceCapture/Pro. I updated to RaceCapture/Pro MK2 2.13.5.

It works now.

On with the install!
