Isn't there some other Motorolla processor, that is better and faster than the present, and has almost the same profile only longer? If there is, perhaps it could go into the same socket, and the legs that don't fit could be bent up and components could be soldiered on?


There reason is this. This following new features are necessary.


knock sensing
rapid acceleration
intake air temp reading
coolant temp reading
trans gear position reading


All this stuff requires at least 5 new inputs, and more memory to fit the program. Also, having more memory for the program means it could now be written in C, and that means more and faster expansion than ever.

It's not simply a matter of extra RAM, flash or I/O on the chip. You also need the necessary external signal conditioning and other ancillary support components.

Your best bet at his time is to work with the Megasquirt hardware, as all of those features are currently implemented there.
