Macbook only connects via usb, not WiFi

My MacBook will only connect to my race capture Pro MK3 via usb and not WiFi. It can see the RC WiFi and connect but the app won’t connect. It’s been like this since the beginning.
WiFi connection Works fine on my iPad and iPhone.
Is this because I connected to the race capture device with usb first and the app on the Mac set this as the preferred or default method? Or should I be able to use both?
