Hi, new to the forum here. We are looking forward to evaluate a RC MK4 but we would like to know if it can be connected to our cars ECU (GEMS GDi80) (https://gems.co.uk/products/engine-management/gdi80/). We are especially interested in the telemetry function.

Hello, and welcome.

We have a comprehensive and easy to use CAN mapping tool you can use to map CAN bus data to real-world channels, which would then be available for real-time telemetry.
https://wiki.autosportlabs.com/CAN_Bus_Integration

We also have a set of system and user-shared CAN mapping presets.

Please get the CAN bus mapping documentation or .dbc file from the manufacturer, and share it here. Once you do that we can help you with getting the system to work in your vehicle.

All the manufacturer provides is some .GIN files (supposed to contain the channel mappings) that are used with their GEMS Data Analysis software before retrieving the logs from the ECU.

.GIN files seem to be proprietary and not an industry standard format.

Try to get a .dbc or at least a pdf that documents the actual protocol. If they want their system to be used at all by 3rd parties, they should be able to provide that.
