To shield or not to shield?

Hi

I have a question , is it always necessary to have shielded cable for the VR sensor?

-My EDIS module has no pin 7 (for earthing the shield as per the wiring diagram)
-The wires for the VR sensor on the EDIS module do not appear to be shielded
-I have read on here some people say earthing the shield causes them problems (so therefore if it's not earthed there's no point having shielded cable)

Should I use shielded cable anyway and earth it to the chassis?

I'm just being a cheapskate and trying to avoid spending £5 on shielded cable if I don't need it!

i used parts of a loom i got from a fiesta, which had all the sheided wire i needed.
