some problems, urgent!
Im going on the rollers tomorrow morning, and suddenly my megajolt dont want to communicate with my computer anymore....
I have a shitty troublesome usb/serial adapter on this computer. so have aquired another computer with a real serial adapter. will try this later when I get home from work. but this have java 1.5xxx. will the javacom downloaded from this site work as good with this with the files in the same folders?
I need a modemcable and not a NULLmodem cable right?
I really do not understand why it suddenly do not want to communicate, but will troubleshoot until the solution is found. Any ideas?
the adapter pointed as com1 (the one used in the tuner software for me now), and also power was on.

Does this work?
Does this work? <a href="http://picasso.org/mjlj/?q=filestore2/d ... ler.exe</a>
Java 1.5xxx will be fine
Java 1.5xxx will be fine - I have 1.5.0_06 which i think is the latest
You need a serial extension cable with pin 1 - pin 1, pin 2 - pin 2, pin 3 - pin 3 etc. You are correct that you should NOT use a null modem connection.
I would advise the use of <a href="http://bray.velenje.cx/avr/terminal/">
Bray's Terminal </a> (download link is at the bottom of that page) to determine basic connectivity...
...in the top section of the screen set COM Port to 1 (or whatever it really is), Baud Rate to 4800, Data bits to 8, Parity to none, Stop bits to 1 and Handshaking to none. Set the HEX radio button in the Receive Box.
Connect the Megajolt to the PC, power it up, enter a capital S in the entry field next to the Send button and press Send - you should get something like 0F 00 00 00 04 1D returned. If you change the capital S to a capital C you should get 128 bytes of (seemingly random!) data returned - see the counters at the bottom of the screen.
If Bray's Terminal succeeds, you have basic connectivity.
Try Alex's software as it requires less setup than the Java-based Configurator - and it should be fine to use on the RR
Then you can configure Java, move the .dll files around etc to get the standard Configurator going.

thanks a lot! will try this when I come home. hope this will solve it as the car is working, so shouldnt be an internal error inside the megajolt I hope. also do you use the same javacomm package for version 1,4 and 1,5?
do you use the same javacomm
<i><b>do you use the same javacomm package for version 1,4 and 1,5?</b></i>
Yes - there only seems to be one version available for download.
PS. excuse me playing with formatting in this thread - I've never done it before! Shame the img tag doesn't seem to work as I was going to embed a pic of my new car that's to be Megajolted very soon ... http://www.milleners.eclipse.co.uk/205r ... 4e9114.htm

I'll put up 20 cents
<img src="http://www.milleners.eclipse.co.uk/205r ... jpg"></img>
I'll put up 20 cents towards that it's cable or configuration related.
How much does it costs to race as an amateur in there, where you from? Excluding the cost of a car.

How d'you do that?
So why doesn't work?
UK costs in GBP are in the order of:
Competition licence £35
Car Club membership £15
Car Club Association Membership £15
Road Rally Entry (150 miles overnight on public roads) £55
Endurance Rally Entry (what my car is prepped for - mixture of off road tarmac/forest stages and a road rally) £230
Single Venue Stage Rally (eg airfield) £200
Stage Rally Entry (Forestry Commission forest tracks) £300-£600
Specialist Endurance Rally (eg Lombard Revival 2005 - which my car did, but with its previous owner) £1400

At last...!
...glad that Megajolts aren't this complicated!

You're smaller than I imagined
You're not as tall as I had pictured you Brent.
