The Bosch "steppers" of that type I've seen are actually more like a servo, just without any built in control electronics: just a pot for position feedback. Wouldn't it just stop where it is & continue to feedback position via the pot if you cut the power to the motor?

Hiya Ryan, I've stumbled across this while having a nosey round the site. Any updates? I've been doing similar (only really got as far as installing some hardware), I opted for a servo to operate an SU choke in place of the cable because it will do idle speed & mixture together. It also retains ...

speed sensors

Sailesmarketing, com do some interesting adapters for speedos & there's 1 for The Acewell dashes too. Interesting project, I hadn't thought of reading the data out of the MJ for Arduino based trickery. I was thinking of doing it the other way round via the auxiliary input to have a go at traction...

I know of the usb issue - mine worked, but wasn't up to flashing the processor so I have also tried a motherboard serial port 'n cable. I don't think it's the battery, I've been using 4 AA's which have shown just over 6 volts when connected & I also whipped the PP9 out of my meter to try. Are th...

I could but I've already had it talking to a PC with 3.3. and it failed to do the same after the incident, but before I could upgrade the upgrade so I'd be surprised if it will make a difference. Does the firmware upgrade involve the MJ confirming the processor has been written to.... Well this time...

Thanks for the prompt reply Brent,

I wonder if the fault could have originated on the pc? It did it first via the usb port, so a few volts on offer there. I have also tried with a DB9 cable. The regulator is marked LF50APB. It has previously been possible to communicate via the usb adapter, which still installs correctly, and was use...

What have I broken and fried!

Couldn't decide which of the 2 existing and doubtless popular categories are most apt so thought a new one was best  V3 'jolt was working until my muppety actions hooking it to my PC on the bench. I couldn't find enough AA batteries to put in my pack to give 6v so I stupidly trusted the label...

Nothing connected to the aux pad on the board, it was on my desk with a 9v battery and no ground so probably just some stray voltage conducted through me. Maybe I'll get a visit off the static discharge police :P I could make the MAP sensor switch an output with a blow into it but the aux did nothin...

Successfully upgraded firmware to 3.3.0 with a proper cable :)

I can report the same problem with running outputs off Aux - though my aux input has only been my finger so far.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I had thought of doing similar with a cross over relay but it still uses your outputs up :( Attaching switching events to cells on the map would be rather good, though I appreciate that'd create a lot more work for controller. Thanks for making a great product even bette...
