sorted :)
Well I went into work and borrowed a scope. Both the PIP and CTO are square waves at approx battery voltage. Although the pulse width of the CTO is a lot shorter than the PIP. So I moved the pickup to the CTO and the MS worked fine, also leaving the MJLJ working. Unfortunately either my serial cable...

I've not done a deliberate
I've not done a deliberate comparison of how the car drives with and without the MS connected. But the thing is even at 10degrees with 180bhp (when ign working) and in a 600kg car it still goes quite well! I think the best way is probably to use the clean tacho out from the EDIS into the MS. I just ...

Signal sharing
I am in starting to convert from MJLJ to MegaSquirt-II. Currently I have the MJLJ setup with a TPS (old board style without extra TPS circuit) which has been mapped on the rolling road and works fine. However, the MS will be mapped using a MAP sensor and I therefore need my ignition map in terms of ...

I used a Ford coil pack and got a set of leads made by Magnecor. Didn't fancy experimenting with a Vx coil pack but if it works that'd be the best way.

I think the newer ones will
I think the newer ones will work. There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. The problem is they don't ignore every other spark so display twice the rpm and twice the advance - so if your mental aritmetic is up to dividing by 2 then ...
Snap-on light
For reference the light I've been using (borrowed from work) looks like this one on ebay
But if the timing light is
But if the timing light is getting a signal every 360 degrees instead of 780 degrees. it thinks the engine is going twice as fast as it is. The timing light I was using (admittedly old but working fine) reported the revs as twice the actual rpm.. The light i used you dialled in the advance figure an...

I'm pretty sure there was a different error - perhaps a windows one. I'm too busy working on some other stuff to try and reproduce it at the moment but if i remember i'll maybe have a look next week. I did get the dialog you mention and retry wouldn't work! I'm sorry i've not got more details for you.

v1260
On friday I took my cra to the Rolling road to be mapped. I started off running the 1260 software but it kept crashing when starting/stopping the runtime display. So I went back to Brent's original software which was fine. The main comment from the guy doing the tuning was that he wanted to be able ...
Does the timing light
Does the timing light account for wasted spark operation? If not it will fire the strobe twice as often as it should and will indicate twice the actual advance. I had exactly this with a snap-on timing light i was using.

XE Map
Here is my current map for my XE engine using a TPS. I think it is fairly safe as it is a first guess from a rolling road/tuning guy and has been run on a dyno but my head gasket was a bit dodgy. Use at your own risk etc etc: The map bins correspond to my TPS they are NOT MAP values. userOutType1=1 ...

I have done just this. I'm using a Ford timing wheel attached to the V-belt pulley with the VR sensor mounted off a bracket on the belt cover.
I'm not fully mapped and dyno'd yet but a standard XE on 45 carbs should produce approx 180bhp compared to the standard injection setup's 156bhp.

Killed Outputs
I have managed to kill some of my programmable outputs and shift light output. Probably caused by some new wiring on my dash for the lights. Anyway I've just had the top off my MJLJ and I do not get 5v at the resistors between the main ic and transistors on the dead outputs (R9, R11 etc). (I do on R...
