A Win 7 tablet should do nicely.
Glad you got it to work.

Brent, I have tried using the plug-in serial-to-USB adapter that worked before I got the BT link working. I have tried it over and over. No communication. I have no intention of permanently installing any computer in my 1973 Jensen SP. I just mounted the tablet on a windshield mount and allowed the ...

OK... I have been cussing, swearing, and cajoling both the mjlj configurator program and the pcjolt program until I am blue in the face. I have settled down a bit. Both programs run just fine on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-30k under Windows 7 -- except for the fact that mjfjconfig.exe won't upload didd...

OK... a bit more data. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Everything seemed to work OK until I assigned the port to COM3 which is my Bluetooth port. The car is out in the driveway and not switched on, so there should be no activity on this port. After setting the port to COM3 the program ...

Yeah -- I'm back. And I'm in a really angry mood. Apologies in advance if I use some unsavoury language. Why the hell can't the mjfj configurator program be made to work on a common tablet computer running Windows 8.1? Or soon, Windows 10? The damned program starts and runs for a bit and then locks ...

Suggestions for MJLJ or MJ2 Configurator software.
Obviously if it connects via Bluetooth it needs to be able to up/down-load map data. The advance matrix (bunch o' bins) needs to expand with the window. The window needs Hot Buttons to start a quick log and to mark a position (simulated space bar). No keyboard on a tablet. All the main buttons need ...

Yes, the aluminium endplates are both installed. Plenty of RF gets out unless you need to monitor your engine from a distance. It works anywhere inside the car and for about a 10' radius around it. Going to have to give that MJ2 a look when it shows up (need a beta tester?). If it doesn't require TO...

While I'm waiting for the MJ2 update (Hey, any idea on when one could be able to buy the MJ2 and how much it would cost?) I shot a few more photos. http://www.bobclevenger.com/mjlj-bt4.jpg This shows the dollop of hot glue I applied to the wires that are soldered to the MAX232A chip as a strain reli...

Checked out the installation. It works with both my Panasonic laptop and with my Lenovo tablet. Good communication anywhere in the car and within about 10 feet around the outside of it. Plenty of range for the purpose. I haven't tried to upload a map yet, but I do not expect any problem with that. T...
