1976 TR6 Runs Good
I have my TR6 running. After calibrating the advance table to actual (I installed the VR sensor alignment so I could get the stock 4 ATDC timing at idle) I loaded a table that approximates the stock mechanical curve. Car ran slightly better on acceleration and much much better at idle. The idle was ...

GT6
I have got my 76 TR6 up and running with MJLJr. Currently just running tach (RPM) based advance. Haven't hooked up the manifold pressure sensor. Idle quality is much improved. email: thorn-and-rose@juno.com
Have pictures of mounts I made and installation.

Yes a 1976 TR6
I have just got my 76 TR6 running. What a great improvement. Idle is much more stable and smooth. More power in upper rpm range. I thoroughly reccomend this. Ideas. I machined the balancer to put a 36-1 on the backside, then made a mount for the VR out of 3/4" aluminum plate. Used leftover plat...

Question for experts on VR sensors
A friend of mine has a Subaru engine conversion for his light aircraft. Can a VR sensor be triggered by a permanent magnet instead of a ferous toothed wheel? The magnet would be mounted in a aluminum flywheel (a hole drilled into the face of the flywheel and the cylindrical magnet pushed in), the po...

shielding and ground
The oem installation has the shields for both the pip/saw and VR connected together then connected to the edis. Don't connect the shields to ground. I had rpm and advance problems that way.

RPM instability
See my comment re wire guage forum topic. I had huge RPM exscursions with the PIP/saw and VR shields connected to a ground. As soon as I disconnected the ground and had the shields only connected to the edis wire, evrything was good.

shielding and ground
I just bench topped my whole system. I had grounded the pip/saw shield, this resulted in tach and advance instability. As soon as I disconnected the shield to ground connection, everything was rock steady. My lesson, the pip/saw shield and the VR sensor shield should be connected together and connec...
Firmware
Brent,
Recieved my MJLJr this past week, thanks for the awesome turnaround. I am assuming that when you say it was tested and programmed it has the latest bootloader firmware on the chip?

Shielding
The pip/saw lines are run with the IGN GND signal return line in the ford installation, all of these are shielded and the shield is also connected to the VR line shield in the ford installation. Reference a Ford Explorer 1990 - 2000 shop manual.

LED's anon
I was going to use the PGM 1 - 4 and the shift light to light up a series of LED's indicating what rpm the MJLJ thought it had. ie PGm 1 at 1000, pgm two at 2000 ect so that at 5000 rpm all five LED's would be on. So, I get 5 12V LED's and connect them up to +12v feed and the MJLJ connections are to...

EDIS 6 pins
I just picked up my EDIS 6 module. Does anyone know what Pin #2 wire color Brown w/ Ywllow stripe and Pin #4 wire color Orange w/ Red stripe are used for? The Pin #2 wire is wrapped with the PPIP & SAW wires (shielded bundle)?

VR sensor signal near alternators
I was reading the Electromotive HPX install guide (similar ignition concept) and they cautioned mounting their VR sensor near magnetic field sources such alternators and electric motors. They also required the teeth on the 36-1 wheel to be at least a 1/2" from other steel parts (such as the res...
