Yep, tried swapping leads, new leads, new plugs, new coil pack. The misfire always comes back.
Compression is fine, having rebuilt the engine (twice, don't ask) in the last 4,500 miles.

When you get the misfire and disconnect the MJ, does it run ok on limp home mode? Will try then report back. What do the spark plugs look like after it starts running rough? A little sooty plus wet since there is no spark. I may be running rich but I have a session on a rolling road booked to have ...

Spark Plug Failures?
Hi, I'm running Megajolt on a tuned 1275 A Series fairly succesfully, however, I keep developing a misfire on no 4 cylinder. Pop in new plugs and it's fine for a while but then starts to run rough. I will check what part number plugs but I believe they are the resistor ones. Anyone got any ideas or ...

It is the type 1 Ford coil pack with the clips on the leads to hold the cable securely. I didn't touch that end when the problems occurred and when I did remove the cables they seemed pretty secure in their sockets. The new cables are all clipped in tight. I can have another go at the coil end but I...

Strange Spark Issue
I have had problems with the car running badly. Tried to isolate the issue by pulling leads off in turn and seeing if there was any change in rpm. Initially no dice until I held the lead close to the plug and it sparked accross and the revs picked up, push the plug lead on properly and the revs drop...

Thanks for the reply, Both Megajolts are V3 I believe, will confirm. Mine was prebuilt. The Megajolt functions correctly in all instances, advance measured with a timing light changes in line with expectations (ie not stuck at 10 degrees). I have covered 3k miles with the Megajolt in place and have ...

Odd communication problem (ie not the normal ones)
I have Megajolt successfully installed on my car, I could communicate with it with the laptop, but not anymore. The laptop just won't talk to my Megajolt, I have tried unplugging the serial cable and swapping to a friends car who also has Megajolt and I can communicate with it with no problems, it j...

Zetec Install
That's a very nice looking installation, I'm very jelous of the vacuum plenum, mine is currently cobbled together from plumbing supplies from Homebase! One thing I did notice is the gause over the carb mouths, whilst this will keep out the larger debris it won't keep out the smaller stuff and...

Static Advance
Your problem sounds very similar to mine. My Megajolt was doing everything it should but the car was running on 10 degrees advance. My problem turned out to be a wrong value resistor, R1 was 10,000ohm not 100ohm. Everything worked as it should but the EDIS wasn't getting a strong enough signal to tr...

And what's next????
I see that you also just happen to have a new 6 rib poly vee pulley mounted in front of the existing belt, now I wonder what you might be planning to do with that.
I assume that the fact that the Eaton M45 from a Mini has a 6 rib poly vee belt is purely coincidental

RVC vs RVI
the early 70's smiths tachos as far as im aware had 2 input terminals on the back, similar to bullet terminals, 1 male and 1 female, for coil signal! is this the type u have? There are two types of Smiths tacho, the RVI, current sensing, which is inductive and has a coil of wire either externally o...

Working tacho
After many trials and tribulations (see elsewhere) I have managed to get the tacho to take feed from both coil leads. In the end I just removed the Zener diode from the circuit and hey presto it works. Don't really see why it made such a difference but early 70's Smiths tachos must be slightly diffi...
