Coilpack gen 1 vs gen 2

Post by alfajay »

I have been surfing the triggerwheels.com website, evaluating sources for EDIS parts. Triggerwheels.com sells plug wires that are compatible with gen 1 but not gen 2 coilpacks. What are the differences between these two generations of coil? E.g., do the two types mount the same way? Accept the same connector? Is gen 2 "hotter" than gen 1?

Accel sells an aftermarket EDIS coilpack - what "gen" type would that be? Where do the folks on this list get their ignition leads?

Operationally they're idntical. Gen 1 HT lead caps clip over a collar on the coil pack, the Gen 2 ones just hold by friction between the rubber and plastic, as they would on traditional distributors.
