VR Sensor wiring-Again, Sorry!

Post by Rich in Vancouver »

Hi all!
New poster here. I apologise for bringing this old chesnut to light again but I have spent the last couple of hours going through the archives trying to find out which wire to the VR sensor is the negative.
I am just starting to make up my harness and would like to just do it once ,so here we go.

The two wires are Grey and Blue.
I did find one post (likely by a guy who is used to house wiring) that the grey is "common"
by common does he mean ground?

Thanks!

Rich

Yes. But it is wisest to leave these two wires undone. Make it permanent after it runs. There is a 50-50 chance you'll get it right, there were different wire colors used for different years. No big deal, really. Mine was wrong, swap the wires, it runs perfectly! Permanently solder and heat shrink and DONE!

Thanks Danny, that's good advice.
I'll use crimp connectors temporarily and solder later.

Cheers,

Rich, on second thought, DO NOT ground either of the VR wires. The grey one may be the negative ve wire, which is what I think you were meaning.

You're right, I meant Pos/Neg as opposed to live/ground

D'oh!
