I have a bunch of V3 boards that I made myself probably a month before the 68HC908KX8 became unavailable, and would like to know if there is another version of the 68HC08 MCU that can be used as a "plug in replacement". I work in a university electronics shop, and make stuff like this all the time, that's the only reason that I chose to go this route. Basically, I have everything needed except the MAP sensor and processor, including a programmer.
Or, if anyone here has a spare 68HC908KX8CPE?
Or, is there any interest in an adaptor that allows a commonly available SOIC version of the processor to be used? it would be a simple, although fine pitch, PCB to make.
V3 boards, processor unavailable?

Brent,
Is there a pin for pin SMT (SOIC) device that I could use with a DIP adaptor board?
Is this the one?
